There is something about the holiday season that calls to a special place within each of us. There is something about the magic in the air that makes us want to ensure no one is left behind.
While it has been around for decades, the Adopt-A-Family program is in its 10th year with the Kinette Club of Calgary. We have seen this program flourish in the best of times and come through with surprising strength in the worst of times. The kind-heartedness of this community knows no bounds.
In 2015, 242 recipient families woke up excited for Christmas morning and over 200 donors woke up with the true spirit of the holidays in their hearts.
Having the pleasure to facilitate 955 individual Christmases is something we joyously look back on. Every Christmas we have the honour of helping people learn what genuine kindness and generosity feels like. It’s a lot of work, but we also know we have the best jobs ever!
If you are looking for something to fill your heart, to make your soul feel full – you’ve found it! This is the project that will change your life!

The Adopt a Family program provides Christmas hampers to low income families. These families are referred to the Kinette Club of Calgary by counsellors working in recognized social service agencies. Eligible families cannot have received a hamper from our program in the past three years. The Program has been ran by the Kinette Club of Calgary for the past 11 years. The Kinette Club of Calgary is a volunteer service organization that has been serving the Calgary community since 1948. As a donor, you will receive information about a family in need and a wish list for each member of that family. The Kinette Club of Calgary will arrange a time for you to drop off your hamper on December 3rd, and will ensure that each family receives their hamper for the holidays.
We would like to thank the Calgary Exhibition and Stampede for their support of our Adopt a Family Program. They have generously provided a large space for our growing program, they feed our volunteers on the Hamper Weekend, and they allow our donors and families to drop-off and pick-up hampers without paying for parking!
Drop-off location: Agriculture Building – Victoria Pavilion, Calgary Stampede Grounds
Drop off Date: TBD – December 2017
To ensure we have time to complete all administration before our hamper weekend, we can no longer match donors to families for the 2016 Adopt a Family program.
If you would still like to support our program, we are always in need of grocery and other gift cards (Walmart, Superstore, Toys R Us, Old Navy, and Children’s Place are some of the most common needs we have). If you are interested in donating gift cards, making a financial donation, or have other new items to donate that could be used by a family, or if you have any questions, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
1. Donor Information Package will tell you where & when to drop off hampers, financial requirements, and tax receipt information
